Holiday or Hustle?
It's holiday season and everyone seems to have their version of how their holiday has been going and well, tonight we hear of how it has been going from one of our editorial team members
Holiday or Hustle? My Rest Plan In The Mud
This holiday has been a lot, trust me, not in the “spa day and Netflix” kind of way. When I was packing to come home, I was so sure I’d be living the soft life. You know, sleeping in, catching up on my favourite shows, and finally exhaling. But the minute I got back? Boom - WORK!
Right now, I am knee-deep in writing a story for one of my courses. It is actually our exam, so it is not just “anyhow” writing. You need your brain fully charged, your inspiration flowing, and your creative space intact. Spoiler alert: my creative space has been constantly invaded.
Now, let's enter the side quests : endless chores, parents who somehow have a sixth sense for when you are “free,” departmental duties, and my roles as an executive and member of Lead City Voices. Everything seems to queue up at the same time until my head feels like it is about to stage a protest.
And just when you think that is enough, personal development goals wave from the corner like, “Hi, remember us?” Plus, I am a content creator. Which means that even on days when I am drained, I still have to think about posting.
Let us not even talk about LinkedIn. The first account- restricted, no reason. I tried again, built my connections, started posting… restricted again. At this point, I am convinced it is just me. Na only me waka come.
So yesterday, I finally told myself, “Enough.” I am taking a one-to-two-week break from posting. My only assignment is to recharge so that when I get back, I am not running on fumes. Because right now, my body is screaming, “Aaah, no, no, I can never turn back o!”
This holiday has been nothing like I planned, but it has taught me one thing. It taught me that I need better structure and systems if I truly want that balanced, happy life I keep daydreaming about. And yes, I am working on it.
If your holiday turned into a hustle too, just know- *You Are Not Alone*.
