Lead City University, not a den of ‘Yahoo boys’ - Lead City Voices reacts



Lead City University is an institution that stands out among many others, a university that ensures proper dissemination of knowledge to students and proper academic and social coordination. Saying that Lead City University is a den of “yahoo boys” is not only a statement that lacks the accuracy of truth, but is also void of understanding and common sense. 


Take for example, Lead City University population doesn’t total 2, 000 and out of the about ‘two thousand students’, I say they have up to 1, 200 boys. Now the statistics goes this way: federal universities not to mention names, have a population of about ‘70, 000 students’ and out of the ‘70, 000 students’, about 40, 000 of them are guys. Following this, if you want to choose where these so called ‘yahoo boys’ will be mostly you would not talk about Lead City University at all. 


Our message to everyone out there is that, Lead City University, Ibadan is the best among thousands and as a result we are being criticized and run down. Seeing is believing, come and see for yourself what Lead City University truly is and stands for. Don’t join fools in spouting nonsense and false information about this great citadel of learning “Lead City University”, Ibadan. 


To say the school is a den of fraudsters, is a one sided statement lacking perspective and insight. I seriously doubt the status of any so-called student, who would make such one sided claim. Lead City University like any other school is a place where regardless of your mission, skills, choices and inclinations; there are always others with whom you will find harmony and fellowship.


Let me call your attention to the school’s recent achievement; in December 2013 the school conducted its 7th and 8th convocation ceremony where a host of first class students were convocated.. That same December the school took part in the fifth Nigerian Private University Games NPUGA in JABU Osun state, where we came third on the medal table. On the 14th of April to 16 April 2014, the university organised a three day intra-university debate of which was an eye opener to many universities. 


To those who are here to read, the library is no stranger, to those who live for sport, the sport complex has become a second home; to those who are more into socials and belligerent behaviors, the crowd is there to follow. These are traits of common to universities, and it is the ability to live through all this, past the temptation to party when you should be at your books that shapes the mind and turns the adolescent into an adult fit and ready for the challenges of the society. But to judge the whole school from one side is like a blind leap into a busy road.



The puzzle here is that students who enjoy the academic nurturing, who go out and taint the school; name and image and those who say nothing actually deny the school after graduation forgetting that the value of their certificate is backed by the value of the school’s name. As students of Lead City University it is time we reject this notion that the school is bad, because in all honesty the grass is never greener on the other side. 

Although the school is far from being perfect (no university is perfect in the world), but as a student, look around the school and you will see that Lead City University is striving to achieve perfection. What have you done to assist? Paraphrasing the words of the late American president John F. Kennedy, ask not what your school can do for you, but what you can do for your school.

    This same Lead City University produces expects in different field of life, name it advertising, public relations, enterpreneurs, innovators, engineers, professor and so on. The same university has lots of first class students in various departmemts...

    You see now ....you just vindicated the tag placed upon your esteemed university by the public by your laughable and unfortunate grammar. One will wonder if your English has always been this bad or if it was made particularly awful after gaining admission to your school...and seeing the comment above,I made my mind up and would go with the second option. Now,on the issue raised in your long-winding ,self-congratulatory essay, I will advise you not to belabour your brain, the majority of the public has already formed a well-established opinion about the school..LCU is an enclave of Yahoo Yahoo boys, a last resort for students expelled from other school..the point of call for "oloshos". I assure you,I'm speaking from a privileged position..I live and work in ibadan..I have relatives that have attended your school..and I have interacted with some of your yahoo boys and oloshos... Your school is for the ne'er-do-wells and even the okada riders know..I will advise you to stop worrying your head about the bad reputation,the school was established for profits only. Academics is an afterthought and a decoy to fleece you off your money..I think I'm gonna stop here...for I know you are aware of the truth even before writing this complete trash.

      Hmmnnnnnnnnn....your comment is well written but I have some questions for you. Have you been to Lead City University of late to see the facilities inside? Was all the comments about your institution positive and right during your academic pursuit? You mentioned 'laughable and unfortunate grammar', can you please point out examples in the article above?

    Anonymous I ave just little to tell u.Am very sure u were reffering to yourself as ne'er do well.F Y I Lead city university is an institution that carries along its student in everything n P O C it's not a den fr people wit lackadaisical or incorrigible attitude.Here in L.C.U there are no NFA's(No Future Ambitions).L.C.U has all it takes as an institution.Am so proud of my ALMA-MATER.No parent is will want to waste money on nothing every parent want the best out his or her child n I must say that everyone in dis gr8t institution are very lucky people.Slow n steady wins the race,it might take time buh our voice will change d mindset of people towards L.C.U.Long live L.C.U

    Lead City University is one of the best Universiies in Nigeria in terms of students interaction with lecturers, which give room for students to ask questions concerning academic difficulties in every aspect at anytime of the day and they are willing to asnewr. Be it on phone call or one on one. And I am proud to be a student of Lead City University. Long live Lead City University.

Friday was national girlfriend's day and Sunday was apparently national sister's day. Who honestly knows when all these days started coming into play? But what's important is the celebration of women in our lives. Female friendships are often overlooked, insulted, claiming women are problematic, stressful, take things too seriously just because they care about their friendships enough to put emotions into it.  Seeing people celebrate females they have relationships with, either: platonic, romantic or even familial, it brings joy to the heart and keeps hope in society. The Beginning of my Journey Assistant General Secretary II of Lead City Voices Stepping into the role of Assistant General Secretary II of Lead City Voices has been one of the most defining moments of my journey at Lead City University. It was not a position I stumbled upon by chance ,it was one I pursued with intention, determination, and a heart set on service. In this role, my goal is to keep our communication smooth, our records well-organised, and to support projects that will make Lead City Voices even stronger and more impactful. I want to help create an environment where every voice is heard and where we can keep raising the bar together. This position has already taught me so much from better time management to working closely with people who inspire me daily. It has helped me grow in confidence, leadership, and service. I’m thankful for this journey and excited for all that’s ahead for Lead City Voices.
