My Alma Mata – Lead City University Student(s) Speak

By: Olarenwaju-Smart Olawale
George S. Patton said: “Don’t tell people how to do things, tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their ingenuity”. Lead City University surprised my thought since the very first time I started my academic pursuit here. Before coming to Lead City, my thought was that I would outshine every student in everything I engage in but I soon realised I had to buckle my shoes tighter and believe me, it is a bicycle race that regard no sleep at all in order to meet up with those I met here.

Maya Angelou said, “When you know better, you do better”. The public may say what they like about us but as far as this writer is concerned many of us take the bull by the horn and that is why we perform better. Our products has what it takes to challenge products of every other Nigerian University academically, socially, morally, politically and even culturally. Tell me tens of wrong in my alma-Mata and I will tell you millions of right and I know a mad man knows the difference between millions and tens.
Mahatma Gandhi said, “First they ignore you, then laugh at you, they fight you, then you win”. I will not plead with anyone to stop their ‘dogmatic’ beliefs about my Alma-Mata but put at the back of your mind that we are running towards you and will surely overcome in every sector of the world. Thumbs up to my Alma-Mata – Lead City University, because truly you dispense - “Knowledge for self-reliance”.

Studying in Lead City University is an exciting experience. It has given me the opportunity to learn more academically, and also about the traditions and culture of the host State (Oyo State), and its people.
Especially the ancient city of Ibadan, which is the largest city in West Africa.
Apart from the excellent education I am receiving, I also made a wide varieties of friends, who are ever present when I need their help on a particular topic or an assignment. We do make a good team when we study together, and as a result, I have become more confident in myself.
I am studying Politics and International Relations, and this is helping me improve my English, and also broaden my knowledge on the entire world. When I arrived, understanding some political ideologies proved some difficulties.
But now, I am quite comfortable with them. One of the biggest challenges I faced at first was adapting to a new environment.
After the initial problem of homesickness and missing the family was addressed, I learned to fend for myself, which certainly helped me in becoming a more independent person.
My time here is helping me grow as a person, and I feel that there isn’t any situation I cannot handle in a calm and confident way, without immediately asking someone for help.

Lead City University is nice, cool and fun. It has great lecturers/teachers, the student(s) are also friendly. Personally, Lead City is a school that stands out among others, every parent should try sending their children here for quality education and vocational training. My Advice to students and potential students is to be focused and determined in whatever they are doing, but at the same time they should have all the fun they can have.

In Lead City University lecturers are student friendly which promotes ease in learning, they help student develop not only academically but socially and intellectually. They provide education for self-reliance through entrepreneurial studies and help students keep up to date with technological development around the world with adequate ICT training. I use this medium to advice students and potential students that “With hard work and diligence you can achieve your goals”. Keep focus and take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way.

Lead City University is an institution that dispense quality education, and also train their students academically and morally. Lead City is different from other universities because it is a place that allow students to act on their maturity. I choose to study here because I am a type of person that loves acting maturely and that is part of what Lead City offer their students.  On the other hand, the academic standard is very high and the lecturers are up and doing to make sure the students achieve their dreams.
